Purchasing Permits
You can only apply for virtual visitor parking permits in your MiPermit account.
You will need to go to the buy parking permits option in the menu and select 1 day visitors parking permits (virtual).
You cannot apply for the paper scratch card visitor permits in your MiPermit account. You will need to contact the parking permit team to request these.

Visitors parking permits are valid for 1 day only.
Households can only purchase a maximum of 200 visitor permits in a 12 month period across both types of permit offerings. For information, the allocation of permits is reset in chronological order from the first date ordered. For example, if you purchased 200 visitor permits on the 01 November 2025 the full allocation of 200 permits would be made available on or around the 01 November 2026.
Activating virtual visitors parking permits
Visitor Permits can be activated up to 14 days in advance via the App, Website and Phone options.
The permits are valid for 1 day and can be transferred from one specific vehicle registration to another throughout the day.
Once activated the permit will be valid for use right away. For example, if the permit is activated on the 01 November 2025 at 10:59am it will be valid up until the 02 November 2025 at 00:00.
If a permit is activated in error, then you only have 5 minutes from the time of activation to cancel a permit. Once cancelled the credit will be returned to your account. You will not be able to cancel the permit and have the credit returned if 5 minutes from the time of activation lapses.
You can cancel permits activated for a future date.

App
Log in to the MiPermit App using the same login credentials that you would use to access your MiPermit account via the website.
Click the menu button (three stacked horizontal lines) to reveal the permits option, select this and then select Activate Visitor Permits.
You will need to enter your visitors vehicle registration number and select the type of visitors permit to use (if you have various types), the date/time to activate the permit, and the duration required.
Once activated, you will be able to view and manage virtual visitors parking permits under the Current & Previous Visitor Permits section of your MiPermit account.
Website
Login to your MiPermit account and click Activate Visitor Permit from the menu option.
You will need to enter your visitors vehicle registration number and select the type of visitors permit to use (if you have various types), the date/time to activate the permit, and the duration required.
Once activated, you will be able to view and manage virtual visitors parking permits under the Current & Previous Visitor Permits section of your MiPermit account.
Phone
To activate a permit over the phone, please call 0345 520 7007 (Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm, Saturdays 8am - 4pm and on Sundays and Bank Holidays 10am - 4pm) and select option 2. When calling in to park a visitor, please allow for waiting time.
We will require the vehicle registration, starting time and ending time of the stay.
Once activated, you will be able to view and manage virtual visitors parking permits under the Current & Previous Visitor Permits section of your MiPermit account.
