School Parking Permits

About School Parking Permits

If you are currently employed at a school on a permanent basis (for example on the schools payroll) that is in a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) which is already part of the school parking scheme and you have been given permission from the school.

You may be able to apply for a school parking permit to allow you to park your vehicle in someds Resident Permit holders Only and Permit Holders Only bays, except for the roads that have been identified as an exclusion area. This area is agreed before the inception of the school scheme and defined before the school parking permits are issued. This area is subject to periodic review.

The school parking permits can only be used during working hours and term times only.

School parking permits are virtual, which means you do not need to display anything in your vehicle. Your permit is electronic and is associated with your vehicle registration number.

Patrolling Civil Enforcement Officers will be able to view your permit on their handheld computers.

You can apply for a 6 month, 9 month or 12 month permit.

Where numbers are limited, the school will be expected to allocate permits according to their own policies.

You will receive email renewal reminders in advance of the permit expiry date.

  • Apply For Your School To Join The Scheme

To be included, the school must:

If you think your school qualifies, the school should email parking permit team help@mipermit.com

Once we have confirmed that a school meets the criteria, we will:

    • survey the use of permit bays where the school is located

    • check that demand for parking spaces isn't likely to exceed 85% of those currently available

This will contribute to the decision as to how many permits will be available for school staff.

If the decision has been made to accept your school in the scheme, we will then write to the Ward Councillors to advise them of our decision. Following on from this we will write to you and advise when you will be able to apply for permits.

We would expect the process to take up to 4 to 6 months from start to finish.
