Registering for Visitors Permits

To initially register for your digital Visitor Permits, you will need to be a resident and have your council tax account number for verification. You can find this on your council tax bill. Please note that to protect the information on your council tax account this number cannot be given to you over the telephone.

If you do not have a copy of your bill you can;

  • Telephone or email your local council tax office on to request another copy to be posted to your property.
  • Visit the council tax office to collect copy of your bill. Please note you will need to ensure that you take photo identification with you which confirms your address, a copy of your bill cannot be given to you without identification.

If you have just moved in and need to register for council tax or notify a change of address, please contact your local council tax office. You will also need to supply your postcode and house number to then be able to select your property from the search field to continue registration.

The registration process will ask for your details to set up your account, and a PIN will be sent to you by email/SMS in order that you can login to your newly created account.

Purchasing Permits

Hampshire County Council offers visitor permits in bundles of 10 permits. To obtain these, select Buy Digital Permits and select Visitor Permits. You can obtain multiple bundles in one transaction by amending the Quantity option.

Visitor permits reallocate based on the date and amount purchased in the previous year, so for example, if you were to purchase 10 permits today, they would not be available for re-purchase until this date the following year. You can view your purchase dates via the Payment History section of your account.

Please note: Visitor permits are set to expire after one year from the date of purchase. Any unused visitor permits will be removed from your account.

 

Activating Permits

Visitor Permits can be activated up to 14 days in advance via the App, Website and Phone options, Text activations are instant. Visitor stays are active until 23:59 on the day it is activated. Please see below methods of activation:

App

Log in to your account in the same manner as you would the website. Click the menu button (three stacked horizontal lines) to reveal the permits option, select this and then select activate visitor permits.

You will need to enter your visitor’s vehicle registration number and select the type of visitors permit to use (if you have various types), the date/time to activate the permit, and the duration required.

Website

Login to your MiPermit portal and click Activate Visitor Permit. Alternatively, you can select Manage Digital Permits and select Visitor Permits.

Phone

To activate a permit over the phone, please call 0345 520 7007 and select option 2 . When calling in to park a visitor, please allow for waiting time.

We will require the vehicle registration, starting time and ending time of the stay.

Text

You will need to have the mobile number that you are using linked to your account. Text VISITOR followed by the registration of the vehicle to 61600 . As your visitor permits are only one duration, this will create a stay for your visitor.

SMS costs to 61600 may vary depending on your network provider. Please contact your provider for more information.

A visitor permit will only be active once you have received a text message back confirming that it is active.
