MiPermit supply services to parking operators that enable cashless payments and ticketless parking. This means that locations supported by MiPermit can offer customers the ability to not having find change for parking and can pay by credit or debit card, as well as reducing waste by not requiring a paper ticket to be displayed. This also offers greater flexibility, you can extend your stay (if supported at the location) without having to return to your vehicle to put cash in the machine, or book parking up to 7 days in advance as part of your daily routine.
When you pay for your parking through MiPermit, your vehicle details are synchronised with the patrolling enforcement officers hand-held computers in real-time, so when the officer sees you are not displaying a paper ticket or permit, they check their hand-held and will find your vehicle has a valid stay attached to it.
Using a cashless service is fast, convenient and easy to manage. You can arrange your parking by telephone, SMS from your mobile, via our smartphone apps or online using a MiPermit portal.
Creating & Extending A Stay Via The MiPermit App
A stay can be created with or without an account, though creating an account/creating stays via an already registered account will enable you to track your stays and obtain receipts.To create a stay, open the app and log in (if applicable to you). You will then be able to search for the location code displayed on the tariff boards/pay & display machines or by using the GPS on your device.
Click the location, select or input the registration and follow the process until you have a Stay Successful message. You can then view your stay via the Current section of the home screen.
You can then extend your stay via the Current section if permitted at the location. Click on the current stay and select Extend to extend using the remaining available tariff.
Some operators will have set a maximum available tariff or no return time at the location. These can not be overridden.
Creating & Extending A Stay Via The Website
Please note, MiPermit do not administer cashless pay & stay parking in all council areas that we administer permits for, this option may not be available in your area.
A stay can be created with or without an account, though creating an account/creating stays via an already registered account will enable you to track your stays and obtain receipts.
Select Pay For Parking using the menu on the left of the screen. If you are using a specific council portal, selecting Locations when on the stay creation page will only show locations in that council area.
Select the required Location and select your start date/time, followed by the duration required. Stays can be created up to 7 days in advance.
Input your registration or select from your stored registrations and complete the process.
You can then extend your stay via the Pay For Parking section if permitted at the location. Click on the current parking stay to view the stay details. You can then select Extend to extend using the remaining available tariff.
Some operators will have set a maximum available tariff or no return time at the location. These can not be overridden.
Creating & Extending A Stay Via Telephone
Parking stays can be created via telephone either via the ATP (our automated telephone service) or by calling our contact centre.
Creating a stay via our contact centre can be done by calling 0345 520 7007 and selecting option 1 . The operator will need to confirm the location code of the car park, the registration of the vehicle and the duration required. The stay can then be created and a confirmation text will be sent to you if your mobile number is linked to an account.
You can extend this type of stay via the app or web portal if logged in and connected to an account or by calling our contact centre to extend.
Creating a stay via the ATP can be done by calling 0345 505 1155 . You would then be asked to input the location code and duration. If you are a first time user, you will be asked for your vehicle registration. If you already hold an account with registrations listed, you will be asked to specify the registration being parked. You can then request a reminder text and you will need to stay on the phone until the stay is confirmed.
You can extend this type of stay via the app or web portal, or by calling the automated phone line or contact centre at the numbers provided.
Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls. For more information please see this OFCOM article .
Creating & Extending A Stay Via Text
Parking stays can be created via text message, either as a new user or using an existing account.
Creating a stay as a first time user requires sending a text to 61600 with the word PARK followed by the registration of the vehicle. The automated service will then call you back to request the location code, payment information and ask if you require a reminder text message.
If you already hold an account with MiPermit and your mobile number is linked to that account, you can create a stay by sending a text to 61600 with the word PARK followed by the location and duration required. This will then create a stay using the default registration on your account, which you can check via the Members & Vehicles section of your account on the website.
Should you need to park a different vehicle than your default, the message format would read PARK followed by the location code, duration and then registration number of the vehicle you need to park.
You can extend a stay created in this manner via the app, website, contact centre or text message. To extend a stay via text message, send a text to 61600 with the word EXTEND followed by the duration required.
Please note: When extending a stay, you will only be able to extend to the next available tariff, so for example, if you have parked for 1 hour and the next tariff is up to 4 hours, requesting a 1 hour extension will select the up to 4 hour tariff as that is the next available.
What are the costs of this service?
It is free to register for MiPermit services. At point of registration you will be asked for your payment details but we do not take any payments from your payment method until you use the service. A card check will be performed by deferring 10p and cancelled so the funds are not taken. Some banks may show this as a pending transaction which may take a few days to clear.
The costs associated with this service are:
- Above the cost of parking, depending on the car park operator, you may be charged a small convenience fee per stay arranged. Any fees will be made clear on the signage in the location.
- Calls to our 0345 number cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls. For more information please see this OFCOM article .
- SMS costs are charged at the standard rate set out by your network provider. SMS reminders which we can send to you cost 10p per reminder sent and are attached to the cost of your stay.
- Season tickets and permits do not carry a convenience fee and are charged at the rate set out by the car park operator.
