Essential Carers Permits

Purchasing Permits

To purchase essential carer permits, select Buy Digital Permits and select the Essential Carer Permit option. You can obtain one Free Essential Carer Permit and any further permits require payment. This can also be set as one Free Disabled Resident Permit and a paid Essential Carer Permit and vice versa.

For first time essential carer permits, select the Essential Carer Permit option and input your postcode and house number/name. Select your property and continue. You will then be able to input your details to create your account and continue to make the purchase. Evidence is required to support the application.

Please note: Should a permit be rejected, you will need to reapply in the same manner as you had done so. Transactions made are cancelled if a permit is rejected, meaning it will return to your available balance. Timescale for this depends on your bank/card provider.

Amending A Registration

To change a vehicle registration number on a permit, you will need to process a Vehicle Change Request. To do this, log in to your account and click Buy Digital Permits. Select the Vehicle Change Request option and process as required.

The permit details will be displayed below, where you can select Edit Registration. Update as required and click Save Details. This will immediately amend the registration on the permit. For any changes required in advance, please contact MiPermit to schedule a change for a future date

Renewing A Permit

Permits can only be renewed up to 30 days in advance of the expiry date. If you have provided an email address, an email will be sent to you to advise of the upcoming expiry. Alternatively, you can view your permit at any time via the Manage Digital Permits section of your account.

To renew a permit, click the red circle next to Manage Digital Permits and click on the current active permit displayed. You will then be able to select Renew Permit from the permit details displayed and process as required. Updated proof of care will be required when renewing your carers permit.

Cancelling A Permit

Should you need to cancel your permit during it’s period, you can do so by selecting Manage Digital Permits and clicking on the current permit displayed. You will then be able to select the Cancel Permit option from the permit details displayed. Alternatively, you can contact MiPermit either via email at help@mipermit.com or by telephone on 0345 520 7007, selecting Option 2.

Permits are non-refundable, please review the terms & conditions set out by Leicestershire County Council.

Changing An Address

If you change your address and you continue to live in the same permit zone, you do not need to purchase a new permit. Please contact help@mipermit.com and provide proof of residency for your new address in the form of a tenancy agreement (showing name, address, tenancy term & signatures)/Utility bill (dated within the last 3 months)/Bank Statement (dated within the last 3 months)/Letter of Completion/Letter from solicitor.

If your new address does not fall within the same permit zone you will need to submit a new permit application and provide proof of residency which is linked to your new address along with your V5C document.
