Resident Permits

Purchasing Permits

To purchase resident permits, select ‘Buy Digital Permits' and select the Resident Permit option. Disabled Resident Permits, Motorcycle Permits, Temporary Resident Permits & Student Permits can also be purchased by selecting the ‘Buy Digital Permits' option. You can change your permit selection by clicking on the Permit Type box while using that option. You can view the cost of these types of permits by selecting a duration option. Standard Resident Permits are set to a 12 month duration only.

For first time resident permits, select the relevant Resident Permit option and input your postcode and house number/name. Select your property and continue. You will then be able to input your details to create your account and continue to make the purchase. Any further purchases can be made via the Buy Digital Permits section of your account.

Please note: Permit reviews are undertaken by Leicestershire County Council. Should a permit be rejected, you will need to reapply in the same manner as you had done so. Transactions made are cancelled if a permit is rejected, meaning it will return to your available balance. Timescale for this depends on your bank/card provider.

Amending A Registration

To change a vehicle registration number on a permit, you will need to process a Vehicle Change Request. To do this, log in to your account and click Buy Digital Permits. Select the Vehicle Change Request option and process as required.

Renewing A Permit

Permits can only be renewed up to 30 days in advance of the expiry date. If you have provided an email address, an email will be sent to you to advise of the upcoming expiry. Alternatively, you can view your permit at any time via the Manage Digital Permits section of your account. To renew a permit, click the red circle next to Manage Digital Permits and click on the current active permit displayed. You will then be able to select Renew Permit from the permit details displayed and process as required.

Cancelling A Permit

Should you need to cancel your permit during it’s period, you can do so by selecting Manage Digital Permits and clicking on the current permit displayed. You will then be able to select the Cancel Permit option from the permit details displayed. Should you wish to cancel an auto renewal of a permit, click Manage Digital Permits and click on the current active permit. You can then select Cancel next to the Auto Renewal section of your permit details. Alternatively, you can contact MiPermit either via email at [email protected] or by telephone on 0345 520 7007, selecting Option 2.

Permits are non-refundable, please review the terms & conditions set out by Leicestershire County Council.

Changing An Address

If you change your address and you continue to live in the same permit zone, you do not need to purchase a new permit. Please contact [email protected] and provide proof of residency for your new address in the form of a tenancy agreement (showing name, address, tenancy term & signatures)/Utility bill (dated within the last 3 months)/Bank Statement (dated within the last 3 months)/Letter of Completion/Letter from solicitor.

If your new address does not fall within the same permit zone you will need to submit a new permit application and provide proof of residency which is linked to your new address along with your V5C document.
